Geoff Holmes

Geoff pic SmallGeoff Holmes has served as CEO of Aberdeen Production and Exploration Company since May 2014.

Geoff is an experienced E&P leader having worked for 25 years in the Oil & Gas industry.

He began his career with Chevron where he held roles in engineering, operations, drilling and projects before joining KCA Deutag. He joined Talisman in 2007 and held senior positions with the company, both in the UKCS and internationally, before being appointed CEO for Talisman Sinopec Energy UK.

Geoff is experienced in managing large, complex upstream portfolios including joint ventures.

Geoff served as a board member of Oil & Gas UK, Co-Chair of the Step Change in Safety Asset Integrity Steering Group. He continues as a member of the University of Aberdeen School of Engineering Advisory Board, the Scottish Government’s Oil & Gas Industry Leadership Group and is a Member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers.

Jeb Tyrie

jebtyrieJeb is an accomplished Petroleum Engineer working with and leading multi-disciplinary technological and economic teams in field development and asset management interfacing with Government, financial, and service sectors to deliver projects.

Jeb achieves this by building relationships based on a broad understanding of all oil industry disciplines and a detailed reservoir understanding.


Colin Burnett

Colin has been involved in the E&P sector for over 15 years.

A Chartered Accountant by background, Colin spent 10 years as an investor with 3i Group plc where he led and managed investments in a number of oilfield service and E&P companies.  Since leaving 3i in 2009 he has been involved in a number of E&P start-ups including Agora Oil & Gas AS, a North Sea exploration and appraisal company, acquired by Cairn in 2012, and Sand Hill Petroleum BV, an exploration based in Hungary.

Ken Black

Kens PicKen Black has served as a director of Aberdeen Production and Exploration Company since December 2014.

Ken is a petroleum geoscientist with more than 30 years experience in the oil industry. 

He began his career as a geophysicist with BNOC/Britoil before moving to Clyde Petroleum Plc where he became an exploration team leader and asset manager. 

In 1994 he moved to Production Geoscience Ltd (PGL).  As a director of the business from 1996, he helped grow PGL into a renowned subsurface consultancy providing global geoscience services in exploration and development. 

During this period Ken provided technical leadership and business management support. He was appointed a director of Senergy Ltd following the merger with PGL in 2007.  In late 2010 he was appointed Exploration Manager for Desire and subsequently appointed to the board.

Since 2013, Ken has been providing geoscience consultancy services to clients in the UK, in addition to his responsibilities with Apec.

RJ "Bill" Bailey

Bill is a senior manager in exploration and development geology. Bill has an intimate knowledge across all G&G aspects as demonstrated with several peer reviewed publications. He uses this insight on all tasks to bring greater certainty to interpretations in our multi-disciplinary industry. Bill has managed and advised small and large companies and interfaced with all sectors of the industry.


John Gregory

John is a senior manager in the exploration and production business, experienced in gaining board support for large-scale oil and gas exploitation on a global basis. He achieves this by applying world-class technology, tools and practices and developing relationships with key organisations such as the service sector and DECC for business benefit. His main areas of expertise are petroleum engineering, field development planning and asset management.
